KUCHING, Feb 3: Mitsubishi Corporation has expressed its appreciation for its 50-year partnership with the Sarawak government while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening cooperation, particularly in the development of carbon neutrality initiatives.
Mitsubishi Corporation’s executive vice president Kiyotaka Kikuchi said their visit to Sarawak—including a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg—aimed to discuss future business developments, with a key focus on green energy initiatives and environmental sustainability.
“We have not yet discussed specific projects in detail, but today’s discussion focused on mutual benefits and future strategies,” he told reporters after the courtesy visit at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today, Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported.
During the meeting, Abang Johari emphasised the importance of ensuring the success of carbon neutrality-related projects.
“Sarawak has great potential to become a carbon neutrality hub in the ASEAN region, supported by its growing investment-friendly infrastructure and policies.
“Further discussions are expected in upcoming meetings to outline possible areas of collaboration between Mitsubishi Corporation and Sarawak in the sustainable energy sector,” he added. — DayakDaily
