US ambassador sees Sarawak as leader in clean energy transition

KUCHING, May 14: The United States (US) Ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D Kagan, sees Sarawak as a leader in clean energy transition.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report today, he also acknowledged Sarawak’s great potential in the field of renewable energy because it is rich in natural resources.

“This would provide opportunities for American companies to participate in the field.

“In addition, I also see a greater opportunity to expand and strengthen the strong bilateral trade and investment relationship between the two parties,” he said.

He said this after paying a courtesy call to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) complex today.

In the news report, he also added that the US will continue in its efforts to strengthen cooperation with the Sarawak government, including supporting environmental conservation efforts and ‘greening’ the region.

Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Sarawak, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, was also present. — DayakDaily
