KOTA SAMARAHAN, June 27: Road users along Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa here from the roundabout and 8101 Route all the way to Mile 7 will have a better driving experience very soon.

Currently, the two-lane road is very congested from heavy traffic but it will be a thing of the past once the upgrading work to four lanes is completed.

Speaking at the earth breaking ceremony today, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the RM229 million project consisting of 11.6-km upgrading road is expected to be completed within three years from today.

“My ministry has been tasked to implement the upgrading works on Jalan Datuk Mohammad Datuk Musa, to widen its current two lanes to four lanes beginning from the roundabout near Salcra all the way to Mile 7.

“Other scopes include upgrading of three current bridges along the said road which are Jambatan Sg Semengo, Jambatan Sg Keranji and Jambatan Sg Kuap, additional pedestrian walk and street lighting installation,” Fadillah said.

Once the road upgrading is completed, it will give options to road users from Kota Samarahan heading to the city and divert traffic to ease the Samarahan-Kuching highway.

Fadillah revealed that the acceptance letter was issued on March 17 this year to contractor Musyati Sdn Bhd through open tender.

However, there was a slight delay in executing the commencement date due to Movement Control Order from Covid-19. —DayakDaily
