KUCHING, July 21: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has urged the people of Sarawak to reaffirm their commitment to stronger unity and stability as they commemorate Sarawak Day on July 22 which marks the beginning of a new era in self-governance for the region.
Sarawak, Awang Tengah emphasised, has made remarkable progress in economic development, education, healthcare and overall wellbeing to be qualified as a high-income State under the World Bank’s standards today.
“While we celebrate Sarawak’s rich history, heritage, and culture, and pay tribute to those who fought for the region’s independence before us, let us also remember the sacrifices of our forefathers and past leaders.
“Together, we will continue working towards a brighter future for Sarawak,” he said in his Sarawak Day message today.
Awang Tengah emphasised the importance of unity and strength as a society, calling for a collective effort towards stronger unity, stability, and security, which are crucial for progress and prosperity for all Sarawakians.
The Sarawak government’s commitment to creating a better future for everyone remains steadfast.
With that, he urged all Sarawakians to embrace values such as integrity, democracy, and justice and to work towards a more harmonious life for Sarawak and its people.
