KUCHING, July 16: The Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) today distributes another RM8.176 million in grants to 72 churches, chapels and temples statewide.

Unifor, in a statement today, said its minister-in-charge Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas presented the cheques for the grants to 19 members of Parliament and state assemblymen or their representatives on behalf of these houses of worship in their respective constituencies.

“The State government has this year allocated a fund of RM50 million to Unifor to assist these houses of worship,” it said.

Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Amar Michael Manyin Jawong, together with Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi and Assistant Native Laws and Customs Datuk John Sikie Tayai are among the recipients.
