KUCHING, June 27: The Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) has earmarked RM110 million to construct houses of worship and mission schools across Sarawak in 2024, said its director, Datu Jack Aman Luat.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Jack detailed that RM90 million would be allocated to assist religious sites, while RM20 million would fund mission schools.
“We have approved several projects this year and expect that once approvals are given, the projects could be completed within a year at least. The primary objective is to construct and refurbish places of worship, among other things,” he highlighted.
He shared these insights with reporters after attending a blood donation campaign jointly organised by Unifor, Ukas, and the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) at a local shopping mall yesterday.
He explained that the objective of the blood donation drive was a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, organised in partnership with the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank and Plaza Merdeka Management Sdn Bhd.
“This is the second edition of the CSR programme, aimed to encourage more blood donations among the community and to ensure adequate blood reserves for use in Sarawak,” he said.
Also present were Ukas director Samuel Simon and KDJA president Ronnie Teo Teck Wei. — DayakDaily
