Iskandar Roslan, 38, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 353 of the Penal Code, which was read before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.
The magistrate sentenced the accused to a fine of RM2,500 or in default to 3 months’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to committing a violent crime against an on-duty police corporal who was conducting security rounds at Jalan Pustaka in February.
The offense carries a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 2 years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, the incident occurred around 11.55am on February 27, when the victim and a fellow police officer were conducting security rounds on Jalan Pustaka. During their patrol, they encountered the accused riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
