Unauthorised use of “Miri City Council” and MCC logo by Facebookers

Unauthorised uses of "Miri City Council" of a Facebooker and unauthorised use of MCC logo by another FB admin.

MIRI, Jan 28:  Miri City Council (MCC) urges the administrator of “Miri City Council” Facebook page to deactivate the account and another Facebook page “Pujut Resident Page” to remove MCC logo.

MCC in a press statement today announced that “Miri City Council” Facebook page uses its name without permission while “Pujut Resident Page” uses its logo without its prior consent.

“MCC would like to inform the general public that the existing Facebook Account under the name of ‘Miri City Council’ was opened without permission and prior consent of Miri City Council while the Facebook Account under the name of ‘Pujut Residence Page’ is using the logo of Miri City Council without prior consent from the Council.

“MCC wishes to point out that so far it has not opened any account with Facebook under the name of Miri City Council. ‘Pujut Residence Page’ is also not related to any official setup of the Council though it has an image of Council’s logo in the Home Page of which the Account holder is using it without consent from the Council,” said MCC in a statement today.

In view of this, MCC would not take responsibility of any comments and statements posted therein.

The Council urged the holder of the so-called “Miri City Council” Facebook Account to remove the account and holder of “Pujut Residence Page” to remove the Council logo from the Facebook Account.

MCC has taken action to report the two Facebook pages to Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

It refers all direct communication via Miri CARES where it welcomes constructive views and comments from the general public.

“We value such views, complaints and feedback for our service improvements, which are conveyed through official channels viz.
