KUCHING, Sept 8: The government of the United Kingdom (UK) is ready to collaborate with Sarawak to address environmental sustainability issues.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Energy and Environment Sustainability Sarawak Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, said the collaboration would involve continuous empowerment of green technologies and industrial sector.
“We seek to collaborate in environmental sustainability.
“The UK has been assisting Sarawak in drafting the law or green economy ordinance for the State since 2021.
“This has resulted in Green Economy Policy for Sarawak through their (UK’s) expertise and grant allocation,” he said after attending a courtesy call by UK’s Minister of State for Indo-Pacific, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, to Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at Wisma Sumber Alam here today.
It was reported that Trevelyan was in Kuching for a two-day work visit beginning yesterday (Sept 7) and she was scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur at 6.45pm today.
Also present were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel and Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais. — DayakDaily
