KUCHING, Feb 21: The United Kingdom (UK) is keen on strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia, especially Sarawak, in the fields of economy and trade.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Speaker of the United Kingdom (UK) House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle acknowledged the potential between both parties to expand their collaboration.
He said this to reporters after a courtesy call to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday (Feb 20).
At the same time, Hoyle, who was on his first visit to Sarawak, also expressed how impressed he was with Sarawak’s beauty and the spirit of his people—seeing much room for Sarawak and the UK to work together for mutual benefit.
Hoyle also paid a courtesy call to Sarawak Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri yesterday.
He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss efforts to strengthen legislative relations and the long-standing friendship between Malaysia and the UK. — DayakDaily
