Uggah: Science, Maths and English teachers sent for CPD programmes

KUCHING, Nov 13: 3,850 Science, Mathematics and English teachers in Sarawak have been sent to the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme for a refresh, up-skill and re-skill.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the CPD program for teachers started in 2018 and the state has spent a total of RM3.15 million for the training.

“The training is to refresh, up-skill and re-skill school leaders and teachers which we hope will ultimately improve our students performance,” he said when delivering his winding-up speech on the last day of State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

The CPD programme was available also for school leaders including headmasters and senior assistants starting 2017 before the opening up for school teachers.

Up to date, Uggah noted 2,853 out of 3,795 targeted school leaders have attended various training programmes provided by the state at a cost of RM2.52 million.-DayakDaily
