Uggah presents RM1.5 mln from Unifor to construct BEM Bethel Church

KUCHING, Feb 15: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas today presented a cheque for RM1.5 million for the construction of Bethel BEM Church in Sibu to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi who received the cheque on the church’s behalf.

According to a press statement, the cheque was from the Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) of which Uggah is the minister-in-charge.

Present to witness the handover was Lidam Assan, Nanta’s political secretary.

Last week, Uggah also presented a cheque amounting to RM40,000 from Unifor to St Augustine’s Church in Kampung Tebedu for renovation and repair works.

He also presented a cheque worth RM70,000 to St John’s Church in Kampung Taee in Serian for the installation of air conditioners.

Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong who is also the Tebedu assemblyman received the cheques on behalf of the two churches. — DayakDaily
