KUCHING, Feb 14: Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar at Astana Negeri Sarawak here today.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), this is Wan Lizozman’s maiden call on Wan Junaidi after the latter was appointed as the Sarawak Governor.
The courtesy visit began at 12.30pm and took about 45 minutes.
For the record, 78-year-old Wan Junaidi was appointed as the eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak with effect from Jan 26, 2024 after receiving a letter of appointment from the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah at Istana Negara.
Previously, Wan Junaidi gained extensive experience in the police force and also as a lawyer in addition to entering the political field by taking on various responsibilities including several ministerial portfolios in the federal government.
Wan Junaidi was also appointed as the Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat from 2008 to 2013 and President of the Dewan Negara from June 19, 2023 to Jan 19, 2024. — DayakDaily
