KUCHING, Feb 14: Sarawak DanceSport Association (SDA) president Chester Lim announces that their officials Russell Lim Jian Liang, Randell Lim Xiu Zhen and Cindy Chung Sin Yee have been appointed national adjudicators by the Malaysia DanceSport Federation (MYDF) with immediate effect.
In a statement today, Lim stated that he had received an official notification from MYDF president George Tan.
Lim, who is also MYDF Secretary-General, enthused that it is up to the trio to put up good performances in their future adjudicating duties to progress further, and he looks forward to them qualifying as World DanceSport Federation-licensed international adjudicators in future.
He revealed the trio are ‘veteran’ DanceSport athletes from Sarawak in both Standard and Latin categories who were nationally ranked in the top 3 positions and were seasoned competitors, having represented Malaysia in numerous international competitions in Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea and China, in the years between 2006 and 2012.
“Russell also had the benefit of exposure to learning and competing in the UK when he was studying there,” he revealed.
Lim further disclosed that the thio hold dance teaching qualifications from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and also had training in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus in Ballet.
“Russell holds an ISTD Fellowship in Modern Ballroom & Viennese Waltz and a Licentiate in Latin American while Randell and Cindy are ISTD Licentiate in both Modern Ballroom and Latin American.
“They have also attended various WDSF Adjudicator Congresses, DanceSport workshops and courses since 2008. Currently, they are active Sarawak DanceSport Association officials,” he added.
“Randell and Cindy, are mainly based at Russell and Randell Dance Company in Kuching, where Cindy is Studio Principal.”
“Randell is a businessman while Russell is a practising lawyer based in Kuching,” he said. — DayakDaily
