KUCHING, May 6: Political stability is the pillar of the continuity of Sarawak’s economic planning and development, and it guarantees the prosperity and well-being of the people, says Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Wan Junaidi believed that stable politics is vital to attracting foreign investments and being a catalyst for Sarawak’s economy.

“Sarawak is lucky to have a leadership line that always prioritises the development agenda despite having diverse backgrounds and political understanding.

“We need a strong Sarawak government to ensure political stability to ensure the well-being of the people while also strengthening Sarawak’s economic performance in the long term,” he said during the opening of the first meeting of the third term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly today.

At the same time, Wan Junaidi called on all parties to continue to work together to maintain political stability for the sake of Sarawak’s harmony and the interests of the people.

“Political stability will continue to be the backbone for us to progress and achieve more success in the future,” he said.

Wan Junaidi pointed out that the vast geographical position of Sarawak is a great challenge in the development and provision of efficient services to the people in every corner of the region.

“Therefore, it is the government’s responsibility to bring development and services to every citizen wherever they are.”

He said he is confident that with the development plan under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2023), which is based on social inclusion, no one will be marginalised in the current development.

He added high-impact and people-centric projects under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and the People’s Project will undoubtedly improve the standard of living and protect the welfare of the people, especially in rural areas. — DayakDaily
