KUCHING, May 17: Sarawak has lost a great leader with the passing of Tan Sri Dr Amar James Jemut Masing.

This was said by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in his speech during the Second Session of the First Term of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

In his speech, he extended his condolences to the family of the former Deputy Premier of Sarawak. Masing passed away on Oct 31 last year.

“Our State has lost a people-oriented leader who always strived for the progress of society, especially in the rural areas.

“His contributions were immense in the progress and development of the State, and his services are still remembered in the State’s political history,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation and thanks to former assemblypersons who have contributed to their respective constituencies.

“Their services in politics and development in the State remain commendable.

“I believe that their contributions over the years will be remembered, and only Allah SWT will reward them,” he said.
