DUN sitting commences today, 3 Bills to be tabled

KUCHING, May 17: The Second Session of the First Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative State Assembly (DUN) sitting has commenced today with the opening ceremony officiated by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Taib and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib arrived to attend the ceremony located at the parade ground of DUN Complex around 10.02am.


Earlier, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang arrived at the same venue at around 9.18am.

A total of three Bills will be tabled during this sitting, with two of them being new and one being a supplementary Bill.

The ceremony began with the Malaysian national anthem “Negaraku”, followed by the Sarawak anthem “Ibu Pertiwiku” and a prayer recital.

Taib then inspected the Guard-of-Honor comprising 150 men of various ranks from the General Operations Force (GOF) battalion.

He then left the parade ground at around 10.20am and headed to the DUN Chambers to deliver his opening address for the DUN sitting.

Also present were DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar and wife Datin Amar Dato Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar. — DayakDaily
