Two young siblings feared drowned after being swept away by current in Mukah River

MUKAH, March 18: Two young siblings are feared drowned after they were swept away by the current while bathing in Mukah River near the Yellow Bridge today.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Mukah’s report received at 4.23pm, the victims, 10-year-old Dexper Kiu and his seven-year-old sister Susie were bathing near the riverbank when the incident occurred at approximately 3.50pm.

The children, who did not know how to swim, were quickly pulled underwater by the strong current.

Their mother attempted to rescue them but was unsuccessful.

Firefighters from Bomba Mukah are currently at the scene to gather information and coordinating search efforts.

Subsequently, a search and rescue operation has been launched to locate them.

At press time, the siblings have yet to be found. — DayakDaily
