Two villages in Bau spark Jalan Sagang Cluster with 29 Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, July 2: Two villages in Jalan Sagang, Singai in Bau have sparked a new community cluster with 29 Covid-19 cases confirmed so far.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said the Jalan Sagang Cluster involved several families in the two villages.


“A total of 55 individuals have been screened whereby 29 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case and 26 were negative,” the Committee said.

All positive cases from the cluster were referred and admitted to Sarawak General Hospital and Kuching Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and further treatment.

With the addition of the Jalan Sagang Cluster, there are four active clusters in Bau at present.

SDMC today also announced two new clusters namely Kilometre 85 Cluster in Mukah and Sungai Gamong Cluster in Meradong.

At the same time, SDMC announced the end of Selumit Cluster in Tanjung Manis.

At present, there are 97 active clusters in the State with 15 of them recording an increase of 82 new positive cases. — DayakDaily
