MIRI, July 15: A tragic car accident on July 12 near Taman Awam resulted in the death of a woman, as confirmed by Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu today.
According to Alexson, the collision occurred at approximately 2.32pm involving a Mitsubishi Triton driven by a 75-year-old man and a Perodua Viva driven by a 35-year-old man.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, which was coming from the direction of the city centre, lost control and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the Perodua Viva, which was heading towards the city centre.
The impact caused severe damage to the front of both vehicles and resulted in injuries to the driver and passenger of the Perodua Viva, while the driver of the Mitsubishi Triton sustained minor injuries to the forehead.
On July 15, around 12.40 am, the 32-year-old passenger of the Perodua Viva succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Miri Hospital.
The police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
