Two-vehicle collision results in fire

MIRI, Jan 28: Two drivers cheated death after their vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision near the Shell Permyjaya traffic light intersection (Miri-Kuala Baram bypass road) early Sunday morning.

During the incident, one of the vehicles was totally destroyed by fire with minor explosions reported.

Fortunately, both drivers who were traveling alone respectively during the incident managed to escape out off their respective vehicles.


In the 6.40am incident, both men were traveling towards Kuala Baram from Miri when the collision occurred.

A single fire engine carrying eight firefighters were despatched to the scene which is located about 14km from the city centre.

Upon arrival at the scene, one of the vehicles was already engulfed in a huge fire.

Meanwhile, the other vehicle — a four-wheel drive — was badly dented on its rear end.

An investigation into the actual cause of the incident is underway. Prior to the incident, there was a heavy downpour at Permyjaya. — DayakDaily
