Two unemployed men nabbed in separate drug raids

KUCHING, Nov 29: A 28-year-old jobless man, suspected of abusing drugs, was nabbed during a raid at a house in Stutong Low Cost Housing, Jalan Stutong Baru here.

Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) head Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid said police raided the house at about 12.30pm on Thursday (Nov 28).

ā€œPolice also found a transparent packet containing crystal substances which was believed to be Syabu on top of a rack, with an estimated weight of 6.47 gramme,ā€ he said in a statement today.

The suspect was taken to Kuching District NCID and his urine tested positive for Methamphetamine.

Separately, police also arrested a 37-year-old unemployed man from Batu Kawa for drug possession and abuse during a raid at a hotel here at about 4.45pm yesterday.

Hasnir said a green plastic container was found on the suspect’s left pocket after a body inspection was conducted.

ā€œNine packets of small translucent plastic with crystal-like substances were found inside the container, believed to be Syabu, with the estimated weight of 5 grammes,ā€ he added.

The suspect was tested positive for drugs.

A background check on both suspects showed no previous record and a remand order have been requested to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.ā€” DayakDaily
