KUCHING, July 28: Two Sarawakians have passed away in the holy land of Mecca during the hajj pilgrimage this year.
Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) president Datu Misnu Taha who confirmed this to DayakDaily recently, stated that they were among 936 Sarawakian Muslims who had performed the hajj this year.
Earlier, Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) reported that Misnu was present to welcome the arrival of 141 hajj pilgrims at Kuching International Airport (KIA) this morning.
It was also reported that the second batch of 142 hajj pilgrims will arrive tonight (July 28) followed by the remaining batches of 423 total pilgrims the following day (July 29).
Last year, there were 397 hajj pilgrims from Sarawak. — DayakDaily
