Acting on information gathered during investigations, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested two local men, aged 24 and 27, in separate operations conducted on June 13 and June 18.

“Checks revealed that both suspects have several previous criminal records, while urine screening tests also found them positive for drugs,” he said in a statement.

Police also seized several items believed to belong to the victim, as well as a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle suspected to have been used by the duo during the commission of the crime.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

Alexson advised the public to remain vigilant and strengthen security measures at their homes and premises, including installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and alarm systems, as well as ensuring doors and gates are locked at all times, particularly at night.

He also urged members of the public to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police by contacting the Kuching District Police Headquarters operations room at 082-244444.

The successful arrests are believed to have helped police resolve the robbery case and recover property suspected to have been taken from the victim. — DayakDaily
