Two men arrested in Sibu on suspicion of possessing RM19,400 in diesel without permits

SIBU, April 4: Two men aged 19 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of possessing large quantities of diesel without permits from the authorities.

Commander of 10th Battalion General Operation Force, Supt Mohammad Hafiz Kadir said a team of enforcement officers from the battalion had at about 11.30pm on April 2 conducted a raid on a house at Jalan Rumbia following a tip-off.

“A man admitted that he is the owner of the premises. Upon checking, it was revealed that large quantities of diesel were kept at the back of a 4WD (vehicle),” he said.


The diesel was estimated to be worth RM19,400.

Mohammad Hafiz said the suspect had modified the vehicle to store diesel.

“The suspects could not show proof of documentation for the diesel and were thus detained for investigation, ” he added.

The raid team had also seized the 4WD vehicle estimated to be worth RM100,000.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. — DayakDaily
