TAWAU, Aug 16: Several improvements are set to be announced in the next one to two months regarding the targeted diesel subsidy system.
According to Finance Minister II, Amir Hamzah Azizan, the measures include simplifying the application process, relaxing the eligibility criteria for taking over hire-purchase payments, and allowing quotas to be transferred to immediate family members.
“We are still studying several proposals for improvement and, in the next one to two months, we will make an announcement, particularly in terms of the process and eligibility,” he told a press conference after attending a Budget 2027 engagement session with industry players here today, as reported by Free Malaysia Today.
Commenting on the engagement session, he said it aligns with the government’s intention to ensure every allocation has a tangible impact and helps ease the cost-of-living burden at the grassroots level.
“We are examining various improvements to the targeted diesel subsidy mechanism to ensure that those who are eligible can benefit from it optimally,” he said. — DayakDaily
