Two lorries involved in head-on collision at Jalan Roban, Saratok

KUCHING, May 23: Five were injured after two lorries carrying supplies collided head-on in an accident near Bukit Perabun in Jalan Roban, Saratok, today.

According to a statement from Sarawak Fire and Rescue (Bomba) department, they received the emergency call from Saratok district police headquarter at 9.23am, and deployed a team of eight firefighters led by PBK II KUP Mohamad Nordin Suhaili.

“Operation commander PpgB Nazry Mohammat, reported that the incident involved a lorry laden with with raw food supplies heading to Saratok from Betong, collided head-on with another lorry which was carrying construction materials that was on its way from Sibu to Betong.

“In the incident, two of the victims suffered from a broken leg, including a neck injuries, while three others only suffered minor injuries, ” it said.


The statement noted that a Size Up operation was carried out to release the two victims still inside the lorry cabin, and later proceed with administering early treatments for the victims involved.

“The two victims were successfully carried out to safety by firefighters before being handed over to the Saratok Hospitals further medical treatments,” the statement read.—DayakDaily
