MIRI, Dec 20: Two men lost their lives early this morning after their cargo lorry collided with a stationary trailer lorry parked on the road shoulder near a plantation in Suai along the Bintulu-Miri Pan Borneo Highway.
The Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to the emergency at 2.37am and swiftly deployed a team of firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the victims, aged 26 and 31, trapped in the front seats of the cargo lorry.
Using RTA tools, firefighters carefully extricated the men. Unfortunately, paramedics from the Ministry of Health pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
The victims’ remains were handed over to the police for further investigation.
Firefighters also conducted a thorough flushing to remove debris and ensure the site’s safety before concluding the operation at 6.40am. — DayakDaily
