Two Indonesians found dead at Simunjan palm estate, suspect arrested

KUCHING, April 3: An Indonesian man and woman were found dead, believed to have been murdered by a fellow countryman, in a workers’ quarters of an oil palm plantation in Simunjan yesterday.

According to a news report by TVS, the incident was reported to have occurred between 10.30am to 11am at a plantation workers’ quarters.

The Simunjan police chief DSP Rafhan Kepli said his officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct further investigations after receiving a report regarding the case.

Preliminary investigations found that the victims were aged 48 and 56.

“A male suspect in his 30s has been successfully arrested,” he said in a statement, cited by TVS.

A knife believed to have been used during the incident was also seized.

“Further investigation into the case is still ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1963/59 for the offence of lacking identification documents.

“We urge the public not to make any speculation that could interfere with the police investigation,” he added. – DayakDaily
