Two houses in Kg Temenggong razed in early morning fire, 14 individuals left homeless

A firefighter is seen dousing flames with water during the operation.

KUCHING, May 7: Fourteen individuals were left homeless after their homes in Kampung Temenggong in Telaga Air were razed in an early morning fire today.

In a statement, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said it received a call about the incident at 12.35am and firefighters from Bomba Petra Jaya were deployed to the location.

The operation commander reported that the semi-detached houses were completely destroyed in the incident.

“No injuries were reported in the incident and the cause of fire is still being investigated,” the operations centre said.

The firefighters faced difficulties in dousing the flames due to the absence of fire hydrants nearby.

However, firefighters managed to put out the fire by using utilising water pumps and a water tanker from the fire engine.

The operation ended at 3.15am after the firefighters ensured the situation was safe. — DayakDaily
