Two fined for drug offences in separate cases

KUCHING, Nov 6: An unemployed man was sentenced to a fine of RM2,500 or in default 4 months’ imprisonment and placed under supervision for two years at the Magistrates Court here today for consuming amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The accused, Tan Joo Sing, 38, was found guilty of using amphetamine and methamphetamine without authorisation on August 23, 2018, at about 1.55pm at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, Kuching District Police Headquarters office.

Meanwhile in a separate case, accused Nur Hasnan Omas was sentenced to a fine of RM1,800 or in default 4 months’ imprisonment and placed under supervision for two years for using amphetamine and methamphetamine without authorisation as well.


Nur Hasnan was charged using the mentioned drugs on April 18, 2018 at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department Sarawak Contigent headquarters.

Both of the accused were charged with committing an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under section 15(1) of the same Act. — DayakDaily
