Two fatal accidents in Miri this morning

A man was killed when his car rammed into a tree at Mile 15 of Jalan Pujut-Miri early this morning.

MIRI, Sept 30:  Two men died in two separate incidents that occurred early this morning.

In the first incident, 24-year-old Dzulhafuqa Haziq Zul’Azman died when his car crashed into a tree at Mile 15 of Jalan Pujut-Miri around 12.30am on Monday.


State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased was travelling alone when the car suddenly went out control and skidded off the road before it rammed into the tree.

“He was immediately rushed to Miri hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead around 7.30am this morning,” said Alexson.

The deceased was on his way to town area from Pujut when the crash happened.

An OKU card holder was killed after he was hit by a van at Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau.

In the second incident, a 35-year-old pedesterian was killed on the spot after he was hit by a van around 5.50am.

The fatal crash occurred at Mile 15, Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau.

The deceased has been identified as James Mering Emang who was found to own a Disabled Person Card (OKU Kad).

“Prior to the incident, the van which was driven by a 51-year-old man was on his way to SMK Baru area from Pujut Padang Kerbau.  And upon reaching SMK Baru area, the van hit the deceased who was crossing the road,” he said.

Both case are being imvestigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
