Two ex-security guards fined RM2,000 each for alcohol-fueled property damage

KUCHING, Jan 9: Two former security guards of a food and services supply company were each sentenced to a RM2,000 fine or three months in prison by the Magistrates’ Court here today.

Muhamad Hafis Mohd Nizammuddin, 28, and Rostenlin William, 24, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali to a charge of damaging company property after consuming alcoholic beverages at the workplace.


They were charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code for intentionally committing mischief by damaging the company’s property, resulting in a loss of RM250 on December 26, 2023, at approximately 8:56pm.

According to the case details, both accused, along with two other colleagues, brought and consumed alcoholic beverages in the employees’ restroom. They became intoxicated and aggressive, damaging company property by punching the employees’ locker, throwing chairs, and kicking a water dispenser, resulting in an estimated loss of RM250.

A police report was filed, leading to the arrest of the accused on January 7.

Prosecution in the case was handled by Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff, while both defendants were not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
