Two cops among four missing after boat capsizes near SK Lepong Balleh, Kapit

KAPIT, March 8: The search is still ongoing for the four persons who went missing after their boat capsized in a river near SK Lepong Balleh, Kapit.

According to Kapit district police chief DSP Rohana Nanu, two of them were policemen Sergeant Johnathan Lambet, 51, and Constable Iskandar Zulkanain Ibrahim, 28, who were tasked to escort explosive items to a timber camp from Kuching to Kapit.

The other two were civilians Emaerson John Nain, 47, and Jack Balan, 44ā€”the latter was also the boat’s driver.

Yesterday (March 7), it was reported that one person was rescued while another four were missing after a boat capsized in the river near SK Lepong Balleh, Kapit.

Rohana said the boat with five persons was hit by strong waves and capsized, and one of the victims was saved by a public member who pulled him up from the water.
