KUCHING, Sept 13: The Magistrate’s Court today ordered two company directors to be released on a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail of RM100,000 and with one surety.
Assistant Registrar of the Kuching Subordinate Courts Dora Undau released the duo upon the expiry of their second remand order today.
Both of the directors were remanded by the MACC to facilitate investigations in connection with the RM800 million Jiwa Murni programme road construction project.
The duo were held under remand by the MACC since their arrest on Sept 8. Their first remand of two days expired on Sept 11 and their second two-day remand expired today.
Although the two directors were released on MACC’s bail, the investigation of the case is still ongoing.
The said project is under the Defence Ministry “Jiwa Murni” programme which involved the upgrading of 10 rural roads in Miri, Ba’Kelalan, Limbang, Kapit and Belaga.
According to a statement by MACC, the roads built under the project by companies of these two directors were not in accordance with the Public Works Department’s standards.
The case is investigated under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009.-DayakDaily
