KUCHING, Sept 13: The final figures of Sarawak State Sales Tax (SST) imposed on national oil corporation Petroliam National Bhd (Petronas) is to be concluded by end of September, 2020.

Sarawak de facto Law Minister Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the members of the committee have all agreed on the date.

“In our committee meeting, it is agreed that the computation and everything else will be completed by end of September this year.

“I’m confident that all payments will be made this year, so just be patient and wait for it,” she said.

On the estimated amount, she revealed a total of more than RM2 billion from Petronas, not including other O&G companies that have also been operating in Sarawak.

“The exact amount is still unknown. Adding on the SST from other companies like Murphy, Shell and so on, it could be more than RM2 billion,” she added when officiating the repairing ceremony of Surau Darul Nur Dini at Petra Jaya, here this morning.

Yesterday (Sept 12) in Mukah, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg also revealed the amount of extra income that Sarawak will be receiving soon.

He said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government has managed to increase its revenue through an additional RM3 billion SST payment from Petronas.

Meanwhile, Sharifah Hasidah asserted that she would be giving her best in defending the Semariang constituency in which she is currently representing, if the Chief Minister were to give her the opportunity again in the upcoming 12th state election (PRN12).

“The decision on the candidate representing the area is prerogative of the Chief Minister.

“If he gives me the chance again, I will defend it with all my best,” she reiterated after the officiating ceremony.

At the event, she witnessed the presentation of a RM1,500 mock cheque from Bank Rakyat Satok manager Ithnen Yaman to Surau Darul Nur Dini Resident Committee (JKP) president Mahadi Masimon.-DayakDaily
