KUCHING, May 26: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has banned travellers from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan and those who have been to the aforementioned countries from entering Sarawak for 30 days.

The committee said the decision would take effect today (May 26).

SDMC said the move is to prevent the new variant of concern (VOC) of Covid-19 identified by the World Health Organisation from spreading to Sarawak.

At the moment, India is facing a Covid-19 tsunami, reporting more than 300,000 cases daily. — DayakDaily
