Tourism Ministry to celebrate P. Ramlee’s legacy with ‘Tribute Concert’ in Kuching on Nov 22-23

KUCHING, Nov 20: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac), through the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Sarawak, will present the ‘Tribute To P. Ramlee’ Concert on Nov 22–23, at Dewan Majma Tunku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah.

This two-day event will be graced by Governor of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi as distinguished guests-of-honour.

According to a media release, the concert aims to celebrate the life and works of Tan Sri P. Ramlee, a national icon whose monumental contributions to Malaysia’s arts and entertainment industry continue to resonate.

The event honours his legacy in music, film, and performing arts, ensuring his timeless influence endures for generations to come.

Renowned local Sarawakian performers, including Chien Ng, Nurhijrah Yahya, Hairee Francis, Azie Mustapha, Nurhamimah Borhan, Firdaus Abu Bakar, and the 2024 P. Ramlee Star winner for Sarawak, Ahmady Sapuan, will grace the stage with special performances.

This concert seeks to inspire both current and future generations to appreciate P. Ramlee’s contributions and to reinforce pride in Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

By supporting the local creative industry, the event also serves to honour Malaysia’s artistic icons while fostering the continued development of local arts.
