KUCHING, May 5: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts is promoting Sarawak’s seven golf clubs with nine 18-hole golf courses as premier golfing destinations in Seoul.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting said this when launching the tourism campaign for ‘Sarawak Best Golf Destination’ Sarawak-Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H) Korean Booklet at the Seoul International Travel Fair 2023 on Thursday (May 4).

He said Sarawak has many golf packages combining golf with other tourism activities such as nature adventure, hiking, cave exploration, etc.

“Sarawak Golf Tourism Association (SGTA) and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) are playing a key role in extensively promoting Sarawak as the best golfing destination,” he said.

The promotion package included the ‘Sarawak Best Golf Destination’ (‘Choigoe golf mok juk ji Sarawak’) brochure, video, golf packages, and the S-MM2H Korean Booklet, which are all bilingual in English and Korean.

Meanwhile, on S-MM2H, Ting encouraged Koreans to come over and experience Sarawak’s special lifestyle and unique attractions.

“As you can see from the statistics of S-MM2H participants by country, most participants are from the Commonwealth countries and wish to enjoy the special lifestyle in Sarawak.

“The majority of the participants are also from the Eastern Asia Region who find the easiness to adapt to life in Sarawak and assimilate with the community with similar roots and culture,” he added.

Regarding tourist attractions, Sarawak has over 60 gazetted Total Protected Areas, including 47 national parks, 15 nature reserves, and five wildlife sanctuaries. — DayakDaily
