KUCHING, Dec 12: Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, has expressed his support for the Sibu Countdown to 2025 event organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac).
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Abdul Karim noted that the event provides residents of Sarawak’s central region with an opportunity to welcome the new year locally, while the state-level New Year’s celebration will be held at the Kuching Waterfront.
“Kuching and Sibu are far apart, and the organization of the event in Sibu is very much welcomed. At least those in Sibu will have the opportunity to celebrate,” Abdul Karim said during an interview at the ‘Dreamweaver’ musical theater at the Old Courthouse Auditorium on Dec 11.
The Sibu Countdown to 2025 event is scheduled to take place from Dec 27 to Dec 31 at the Azman Hashim Sports Complex in Sibu Jaya.
Meanwhile, the state-level countdown will be held at the Kuching Waterfront on Dec 31. — DayakDaily
