KUCHING, Dec 25: Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, has urged Malaysians to embrace the spirit of “unity in diversity” as a shared value, rather than leaving it as a mere slogan.

His call aligned with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s message, “We are all one family”.

In his Christmas message posted on social media yesterday (Dec 24), Tiong encouraged Malaysians to embody the ideals of love and peace.

“Let us approach differing views with an open mind, seek common ground while respecting differences, and let harmonious coexistence shine as Malaysia’s most beautiful feature,” he said.

Reflecting on the progress made in 2024, Tiong highlighted that while the nation has steadily regained its footing, occasional disruptions have tested unity and harmony.

“This Christmas, let us look forward with hope. May the conflicts and strife around us fade away like snowflakes in the wind, and may the spirit of mutual respect, harmony, and love flourish, creating a truly united society,” he added.

Tiong expressed pride in Malaysia’s cherished tradition of celebrating festivals together, transcending racial and religious boundaries.

“Regardless of our racial or religious backgrounds, we can all enjoy a hearty Christmas Eve feast, sing Christmas carols, and bask in the joy of the season,” he said.

He also remarked on the festive cheer filling the country. “With the joyful tunes of Christmas in the air and shopping malls adorned with glittering decorations, this is the season for sharing heartfelt wishes and catching up with friends and family over food and warmth. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season.” — DayakDaily
