Tourism Minister sends condolences to Batang Kali landslide victims’ families

KUCHING, Dec 17: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has expressed his condolences to the victims’ families of the Batang Kali landslide incident.

“I was very saddened by the tragedy that happened in Batang Kali, Selangor. May the souls of those who passed rest in peace.

“I pray that the victims’ families be given strength and perseverance to overcome this difficult test,” he said in a social post yesterday (Dec 16).

Meanwhile, Tiong said he had instructed the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) secretary-general to get the Selangor State Tourism Department director to go down to the scene to obtain the latest updates.

Tiong said he had also instructed his deputy to go down to the ground and come up with a detailed investigation report.

“Some have also asked the government to outline safety rules for resort operators such as campsite operators.

“For the safety guidelines of operators providing campsites, the public can visit the official MOTAC website.

“I will announce more details about registered tourist accomodation centres and report directly to the public from time to time,” he added. — DayakDaily
