SELANGOR, Dec 16: At least 16 people have been killed in a landslide tragedy at Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Batang Kali, Selangor, at about 2am this morning.

According to the Ministry of Local Government Development Malaysia (KPKT), the tragedy involved 94 victims.

As of 1pm today, 16 were killed, 61 were rescued, and 17 are still missing.

“The search and rescue (SAR) operation is still ongoing,” it said in a Facebook post today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the landslide occurred from an estimated height of 30 meters above the campsite and covered close to three acres in width of the site.

Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim also issued a statement earlier today, instructing the SAR to be carried out meticulously and systematically by all government departments.

“I was also informed that the ministers will go down to the location this morning. However, I advise them not to interfere with the SAR work.

“Let us pray that the mission process can go smoothly, and I will go down to the location tonight,” he stated. — DayakDaily
