Tourism minister humours netizens about dieting during Chinese New Year

KUCHING, Jan 25: Federal Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, humours netizens about dieting during the Chinese New Year festive period as he is pictured enjoying a bowl of mee sua (Chinese wheat vermicelli).

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, announced on his official Facebook page today that he has decided to postpone his diet plan until a later date, possibly after the Chinese New Year celebrations.


“I have decided. To postpone my diet plan a little bit later. Maybe after the Chinese New Year celebration. It was indeed a difficult decision,” he wrote.

Several netizens commented on his Facebook post with amusing remarks, one of which said, “Difficult, because Hari Raya will follow soon.”

Another netizen commented, “Dato’ Seri, this long life noodles – mee sua cannot diet lah! The more the better, the more the merrier! Wishing Dato’ Seri good health, joy, success, and peace!”

Another added, “Dato Sri, no worries… fat is beautiful.”

In the meantime, some netizens appeared concerned about Tiong’s health, with one commenting, “YB requires to cut down consumption of flour products, sugar, and alcoholic drinks for good health. Only good health can serve rakyat more efficiently!”

One netizen also encouraged Tiong to go on a diet, saying, “Let’s go, YB. You challenge me, I challenge you. Who knows you will be thin later. Happy CNY Dato!” — DayakDaily
