KUCHING, March 11: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast to impact Kuching, Serian, and Samarahan until 4pm today.

In an advisory issued at 12.30pm today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said that this warning is in effect due to the potential of severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms with a rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, either occurring or expected to last for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term advisory lasting up to six hours for a single release.

Additionally, MetMalaysia has issued an alert for thunderstorms, rainfall, and strong winds expected to affect Sarawak until March 15.

Weather pattern analysis indicates a concentration of wind in Sarawak until March 15 that may potentially bring continuous heavy rain and strong winds, particularly in the evenings and could last until the morning.

The public is strongly urged to stay informed by checking MetMalaysia’s official website at www.met.gov.my, following its official METMalaysia social media platforms, and downloading the MyCuaca app for the latest and authentic weather information. — DayakDaily
