KUCHING, April 4: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for various districts in Sarawak this afternoon.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok), Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit (Song, Kapit, and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), and Miri (Subis, Beluru, and Marudi).

The warning, issued at 1.55pm today, remains in effect until 4pm.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
