Sarawak firefighters honored with ‘Firefighter Hero’ title as part of fire safety campaign launch

KUCHING, April 4: Twenty individuals were lauded and awarded the prestigious title of ‘Firefighter Hero’ in conjunction with the launch of the 2024 Festive Season Fire Safety Campaign organised by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian applauded the recipients for their bravery during the campaign launch that took place at the Bomba headquarters in Kuching today.

The recipients honoured with the ‘Firefighter Hero’ award are two individuals for their valour during the Babylon Office Systems fire, 11 members of the emergency response team (ERT) commended for their swift action during the Sejingkat turbine fire station blaze, six awarded for their efforts during the Nanga Miau longhouse fire in Song, and one individual for extinguishing a fire at a longhouse in Ulu Sungai Salim, Sibu.

Bomba Sarawak director Datu Khirudin Drahman extended his gratitude to the recipients of the firefighter hero title their efforts in effectively controlling and extinguishing the fires, emphasising their crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected communities.
