Thunderstorm warning for central, north Sarawak to last until 5pm

KUCHING, June 29: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in central and northern Sarawak today.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Sibu (Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu, and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).

The warning, issued at 1.35pm today, remains in effect until 5pm.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
