KUCHING, Sept 30: Thunderstorm alerts have been issued for seven districts in Sarawak until 6pm today.
According to Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in an advisory notice issued at 3.50pm, the affected district are Serian, Samarahan, Simunjan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Mukah and Tanjung Manis.

The department said adverse weather condition include heavy rain and strong wind.
It also said that a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
It added a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance. — DayakDaily
