KUCHING, Aug 2: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorm alerts for six districts in Sarawak, effective until 5pm today.
The advisory notice, issued at 2.30pm, specifies that Bintulu, Miri, Limbang, Subis, Beluru, and Marudi are the affected districts.
MetMalaysia warns of anticipated weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm per hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour,” stated the department.
The thunderstorm warning is short-term and valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather information. — DayakDaily
